Two or more One-Way gate valves comprise the modular construction of the rock box diverter. The unit is designed to be "on stream" with extremely abrasive material such as glass cullet or cement clinker. The "rockbox" design uses the material itself as a wear surface to protect key components such as the blade and seals.

Due to modular construction, a wide variety of diversion angles, number of outlets, and outlet sizes are available to suit the application. Replaceable abrasion-resistant steel linings and apex points are standard.
